Introducing

Myrna Floor

Goldsmith – Designer

“Something creative”. That’s what I wanted after high school. And luckily a teacher told me about the Vocational School for Goldsmiths. Because when I stepped in there, I knew I was in the right place. The creativity, being active with your hands and creating something that was previously only in your head. I loved it and still do. At Mio, designing new collections is a big part of my job. New ideas usually don’t arise in the shop or behind the workbench. I like to swim in open water and walk a lot, preferably through the dunes. And during these moments, when my head is completely empty, new designs often bubble up. So I rarely leave the house without a sketchbook.

When I am not in nature or in our studio, you will probably find me at home with the children and the cat. If possible with a home-baked cake.

Jeroen Pasteuning

Goldsmith – Web designer

Being unsure about my path as a teenager, I enrolled in Amsterdam’s Vocational School for Goldsmiths. Surrounded by technique and creativity, I instantly fell in love with the goldsmith trade. When the opportunity arose in 2002 to acquire my former internship company’s studio, I didn’t have to think twice. At Mio, my responsibilities include crafting jewelry for customers, overseeing watch brand acquisitions, and managing our website. I also keep a close eye on developments in the area of LabGrown diamonds. If Myrna is working on new designs for our collection, I happily contribute my technical expertise.

While this profession remains my true passion, you will not always find me at the workbench. At night, you will often find me on the volleyball court with my team, and weekends are dedicated to maintaining our joint city vineyard, ensuring a fruitful harvest for our own wine.

Kristina Matthews

Goldsmith – Restorer

Inheriting my passion for beautiful gemstones from my geologist grandfather, I became addicted to jewelry design after my first successful sale of a couple of earrings at the age of 11. Following my qualification as a goldsmith and jewelry designer in sunny Cape Town, South Africa, I relocated to the Netherlands in 2019. Joining Mio Jewelry as an intern was a remarkable opportunity, and I’m delighted to still be here three years later, primarily focusing on repairs and special assignments. Mio’s creative and welcoming environment resonates with me, as does the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere of the centre of Amsterdam.

During my free time, I take pleasure in exploring the Netherlands and nurturing ideas for new jewelry designs. When the sun graces us, I unwind in parks or savor a “braai” (barbecue) on my balcony in Rotterdam. My cycling skills have improved, and so far my bike has only been stolen once!
